Another Chapter....

Yes, it's a never ending saga. Things in my apartment haven't gone according to plan at all.
Every time we thought we had it dried up we found more water. So finally, realizing it wasn't worth trying to avoid an insurance claim we called in the big guns. Turns out that was super smart, because the water did more damage than we could have imagined. Drywall and baseboards need to be replaced, the carpet can be saved, but the underlay needs to be replaced in all rooms, the kitchen flooring needs to be completely torn up and replaced, and the cupboards need to removed in the kitchen and bathroom and have water damaged wood repaired.
Oh my god.
When my mom asked the restoration specialist how long all of this was going to take he said "Umm...I won't be able to even answer that for a couple of days." I nearly burst into tears.
(Maybe fate will smile on me and make it happen for my birthday??)
On the bright side, the restoration pros are amazing, and they are doing a great job. Two guys arrived 5 minutes after the specialist finished his assessment, and they worked all day long. They have dealt with the carpet underlay, taken out all the wet drywall, pulled out the cupboards, and taken out all of the laminate flooring in the kitchen. They're superstars. And they'll be back tomorrow, and every day until it's done. Meanwhile, I'm still sleeping in my mom's living room, and Emma is loving it.
Here's the guys you want to call if you're ever in my situation....
Here's some of the wall cut of Chris' room, and we didn't even think any water had gotten in there!!And here is my kitchen...the cupboards taken off the walls, and pieces of the drywall removed.
You know I will keep you updated!!
