Emma is sick.

Saturday morning I headed off to work, leaving Emma to enjoy a fun filled morning at home with Auntie Shauna, and an afternoon at Grandma's house. She had a bit of a cough, and her cheeks looked a bit rosy, but she was full of beans and in good spirits, so I wasn't too worried.
Man, what a difference a few hours can make. By 1pm Emma was rocking a scary high fever, and was totally listless, wanting nothing more than to lay on Grandma's couch...I asked that she get taken to the clinic, since it came on so fast, but I still wasn't too worried, since I knew she was in good hands and that Shauna and Grandma had it under control.
By the time I arrived to pick her up I was greeted with a very sick baby girl. It seems she has some kind of cold or flu that has her nose running and a nasty cough hacking...she also has an ear infection, which is interesting, because Chris and I were just speaking the other day about how she has never had a dose of this most common yucky that attacks the wee ones. And her fever? Barely kept in check by doses of Tylenol every 4 hours, and it kept shooting back up to hover at 103 degrees every time the Tylenol started to wear off. Ugh.
That was Saturday. Today is Monday. I am tired. I have had very little sleep, and the same goes for Emma, though she is sleeping now (see picture). I have been puked on - twice. She coughs, she cries, she whines, and she flails and screams like a banshee when I come near her with any kind of medicine. Grape Tylenol and banana-flavored antibiotics - YUMM!! She hasn't eaten, but has gone through an astonishing amount of OJ and Ginger-Ale. And she doesn't like being thrust into cool baths to help bring down her temperature at 3am, though I don't really blame her. All things considered, she's been an angel.
She is finally resting now, and it looks like the antibiotics are finally starting to get some mojo going as we are at 6 hours with no Tylenol and though her fever is still there, it's not high enough that I will wake her to force more on her.
And Chris has been fantastic back up, stepping in with wet cloths and keeping Emma happy so I can wash throw-up off of me, and making sure I eat something, even if she won't. But I don't want to say too many nice things about him right now, as it is his birthday tomorrow, so he will get a nice, mushy post then.
