Didn't I promise a long, detailed post about our trip when I got home? Ya, I did. And seeing as I am home now, it seemed like a good time.
I don't think I have to say how great of a time we had, but I will. It was AWESOME. For me the best part was Emma's reactions. Her awestruck face when she met the Princesses, her squeal when she went on her first roller-coaster ride (a small one, in Toontown), how she threw her hands in the air and yelled on Splash Mountain (which, she says, was her favorite thing on the trip), her giggles when she was sprayed with water during the Pixar Play Parade, and her excitement about being able to ride the Monster's Inc ride 7 consecutive times. Yes, 7. There was no line, and she loved the ride, so we would just get off at the exit, and walk back to the entrance. We actually went on the ride 14 times total, but maxed out at 7 in a row.
So that was my favorite part, which really shouldn't surprise you. Emma is my favorite part of anything. Oh, and since you know my fave, and Em's (Splash Mt, remember?), I should tell you Chris' - it was when he and I went on the Grizzly Water Raft ride and I was engulfed by a neat little wave that managed to only get me in our boat of 6 people. You should have seen his face. Pure joy.
We had originally planned to start with 3 of 7 days at the Disney parks, then do things like the San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, Universal, etc... Things didn't work out that way at all. We ended up upgrading our passes to 5 days, and then adding a 6th at the last minute. We were just having too much fun, and Emma loved it. We still didn't manage to see everything. We did do one day at Universal Studios, as you saw in my last post. Good fun.
Having my Mom along was fantastic. Mostly because I love my Mommy like crazy, and it was so nice to share the time with her. She's so fun. And the third set of hands really made the whole experience easier. She was Super-Grandma - making sure Emma had Princess hair, babysitting 2 nights so Chris and I could play, and rally racing the Disneyland rent-a-stroller through harrowing crowds.
Chris' parents are owed a big shout-out too. We couldn't have done this trip without them, and they were great about being dragged around, all in the name of kiddie fun.
At the centre of it all was my Miss Emma. I had honestly thought she was a little young for Disneyland, and we were quietly planning a trip for when she was closer to 5. I was wrong. This trip was perfect for her. She truly believed what she saw, and was in awe of it all. As a bonus, Emma behaved beautifully - she was an angel, and we had no issues. Even when we woke her at 3:30 am and dragged her through airports. Of course, now that we are home we have had a struggle getting back into routine, but such is life with a preschooler. Time-outs have been necessary.

Hmmm...I think that covers everything. Except more pictures!!!!!

We got a chalk portrait done of Emma. It's beautiful.
