Everyone everywhere is getting sick. My house is no exception. You know that cold I mentioned in my last post? It turns out that Chris' REALLY bad cough is a chest infection, and he is even using an asthma inhaler. As for me, my sinuses have been driving me mental, so I finally dragged myself to the doctor...seems that I have a sinus/ear infection! Brilliant.
Emma is escaping the worst of it...she does have a bit of a cough, but it only seems to bother her at night, which of course means neither she nor I are sleeping well. And between her and Chris we have tried 4 different cough medicines, and none of them have helped. Boo!!
Oh well. Such is life.
Sticking to the medical theme of this post I have other news...
I took Emma to the eye specialist yesterday, to determine how much damage was done to her left eye...basically to see how lazy it is. I guess the muscles are really weak, so she has ALOT of trouble focusing with it...I was really surprised at what she couldn't see when her right eye was covered. So how do you fix this? You have to train the eye muscles to work harder, so they learn how to do what they are supposed to. One option is to put a patch over the strong eye to make the weak eye work. But as much as I would love to have a pirate child, I just don't see Em tolerating that situation. So instead I have drops that I must put in her right eye (the strong one) every morning...the drops will blur the vision in the right eye, forcing the left eye to do more work. We will do this for 6 weeks and then go back to the doctor and see where we're at. The drops cause the pupil in her eye to get super big, so that's a weird sight, but I am glad we are doing this and that we caught the problem when we did because if left too long the muscles get so weak that there is no option but surgery to fix the lazy eye. So if you have babies or ever plan to: Get their eyes checked!!! Children get one free visit to an eye dr. a year until they are in their teens. DO IT!!
Other medical news? Well, there will soon be new little cousins in our family brood! (God no! I am not preggers!!)
My favorite sister-cuz Angela is expecting a baby sibling for Ethan on August 20th (Leos rock!), and I just found out my brother Donovan and his wife will be welcoming a little one just a few weeks after that! So that will bring the baby-pack up to 6 members. I suggest my parents invest in a large kiddie table for family dinners!!
Okay, that's it for all things along the meds theme...unless you want to discuss that mole on my....lol just kidding!! Really.
No pics today. Next time.
